Librarians Run For The Cure (For Breast Cancer)

Posted in Breast Cancer, CIBC Run For The Cure, Librarians Run For The Cure on August 19th 2007 by Randy Reichardt

.: Every fall, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is held across Canada. The Run began in 1992 in Toronto, and volunteers raised $85,000 for breast cancer research, education and awareness. In 2006, over $26,000,000 was raised across 50 Canadian communities. Led by my friend and colleague, Pam Ryan, the Librarians Run For the Cure, a national team of librarians from across Canada, will be participating in their 4th Run on 30 September 2007. I will be joining the Edmonton team for the first time, and would welcome the support of those who read this blog.

Over 170,000 participants will be walking or running on 30 September 2007, in support of those who have had to deal with breast cancer in their lives. In addition to supporting my colleagues and friends in the Run, I am participating because I have family members and friends who have had to deal with breast cancer in their lives.

If you would like to support my participation in this event, you may do so on this page, using Visa, Mastercard or American Express. This page explains “where your dollars go“.  My goal is to raise $2,000, and as of this writing, I am 2/3 of the way there!

I thank you in advance for supporting me in the fight against breast cancer.
