Samantha Schultz Performing “It’s Too Late”, Featuring Vanessa Collier

Posted in Samantha Schultz on July 16th 2013 by Randy Reichardt

.: Samantha Schultz is a multi-talented Edmonton musician who I have had the good fortune of knowing for the past few years. She writes and sings her own material, and can deliver the goods when singing cover tunes as well. Sam recently graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and at the Berklee Graduation Commencement Concert, with Carole King watching in the audience, she offered an outstanding reading of King’s classic tune, “It’s Too Late.” Featured in the song is a wicked soprano sax solo by Vanessa Collier. Enjoy, and please share with your friends on every social media site you can.  I am SO proud of her – you will be blown away by her performance of this song.

Jr. Gone Wild Vs The Cranky-Pants Alberta Government

Posted in Jr. Gone Wild on July 4th 2013 by Randy Reichardt

.: Local music legends Jr. Gone Wild are in a dust-up with the Alberta Government over their use of a variation of the Alberta Crest as their logo.  Meanwhile, a petition has been started to “Allow Jr. Gone Wild To Use Their Alberta Crest Logo!”  PLEASE consider adding your name to support a great Edmonton band.  Mike McDonald, leader of the band, could be fined $1,000 for using the altered version of the crest.  And yet variations of the Alberta Crest have been used before, such as by the University of Alberta, and the Alberta Broomball Association.

Do the right thing and sign the petition.  And thank you!

Gypsy by Antje Duvekot

.: Antje Duvekot is one of my favorite musicians. I love her writing, her voice, her songs. Here’s a new song on which she is currently working, called Gypsy, which Antje describes as a rough draft. Listen and love it.

Star Machine – Bob Mould, Jason Narducy, Jon Wurster perform on Jimmy Fallon

Posted in Bob Mould, Jason Narducy, Jon Wurster, Silver Age, Star Machine on March 4th 2013 by Randy Reichardt

.: Bob Mould and Band play a blistering version of Star Machine from his new album, Silver Age. I was fortunate to have seen his show on 26 Feb 2013 at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC two days before he played on Fallon. The clip may respond that it is unable to play because of ad-blocking software, but if you wait two minutes, it will play. It’s worth the wait!
