Bitch, Bitch

:: I’ve been cranky all week. Sometimes I don’t want to be around other sentient beings, and I think most of Those Sentient Beings are aware of that right now. I’ve been working hard on a new eating plan and exercising six days a week, and I don’t feel or look any different. I’ve been on the eating plan since August 6th. It’s very frustrating at this point in time. I’m beginning to wonder if I might have to accept the fact that I will not lose my tummy, despite my best efforts, or get in better shape. I’ve consulted with a nutritionist and a personal trainer. What’s left to try? Oh, I could bang my head against a wall.

It’s like, things seem so collectively lousy right now that the smallest, dumb thing that happens causes me to giggle hysterically for a second or two. I’d like to take an industrial-strength vacuum cleaner, and suck all the shyte out of my house, the zillion papers and magazines and other peripheral junk, and stare at the walls.

I made a comment just the other day that I thought you looked like you had lost some weight. Hang in there. I lost 55 pounds 2 years ago and it takes time for the weight loss to kick in sometimes. You might go a week or two with no difference – and then suddenly drop 5 pounds in a week. Regarding the house – moving does the same thing as this vacuum. You should give it a try – a change of scenery really changes your life (usually for the positive)

    Randy, Randy, Randy.

It takes a while. August is not that long ago. You don’t need to lose much in any case. And that’ll be the weight that comes off slower. Keep it up. Eating healthy is a GOOD thing. Especially for older people over 50.

I appreciate the words. The frustration runs a bit deep, I suppose. Last night I took a cloth tape measure, and measured my waist at its largest circumference.

Let’s just say that the result won’t be published in a journal or web site anytime soon. It’s really quite frightening and deflating. More annoying and defeating is that it’s at the same figure it’s been for years, and I’ve been working out now since 1993.

I’ll keep at it, but my enthusiasm is not high right now.
